Paul Gray, the bassist from the Grammy award-winning band Slipknot, was found dead at a hotel in Des Moines, Iowa, on Monday. Police are investigating the cause of death, though there’s been no evidence of foul play. The 38-year-old was a founding member of the platinum-selling band, which most recently released the album All Hope Is Gone in 2008. “It’s just a devastating loss for the Des Moines music scene and the world’s music scene,” said Matt Nyberg, a close friend and colleague. “He was always one of the nicest guys. You never heard anything negative from him." An autopsy is set for Tuesday, during which toxicology tests will be conducted.
