Singapore Falls for Viral Marketing Stunt

At least the bear wasn’t chewing gum? Singapore has opened a criminal investigation into electronics group Philips after the group launched a viral marketing campaign on social-media websites suggesting a bear was roaming a residential neighborhood. The “bear” was actually a man in a bear suit, but that didn’t stop Singapore from sending authorities after him with tranquilizer guns. Zoo workers and animal-rights activists also aided in the search. Philips has apologized for the stunt; it faces a fine of $1,000.
