Sherrod Brown Announces ‘Dignity of Work’ Tour of Early Primary States

Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) appeared to inch closer to a possible presidential run on Tuesday night with an announcement during an interview with MSNBC's Chris Hayes that he’ll be embarking on a tour of early primary and caucus states at the end of the month. Dubbed the “Dignity of Work Tour,” based on a phrase he has been using to describe his political philosophy, Brown will begin in Cleveland on Jan. 30 and venture to Iowa the next day. The remainder of the trip, first reported by BuzzFeed News, will take him to New Hampshire, Nevada, and South Carolina. “Dignity of work means hard work should pay off for everyone, no matter who you are or what kind of work you do,” Brown said in an accompanying press release Tuesday night. “When work has dignity, everyone can afford health care, education, and housing. They have power over their schedules and the economic security to start a family, pay for day care and college, take time off to care for themselves or their families when they are sick, and save for retirement.”
