Sheriffs: Refrigerator May Have Caused Oakland Fire

A refrigerator might have started the deadly fire in Oakland's Ghost Ship warehouse, the Alameda County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday. The fire, which broke out Friday night, killing at least 36. The building was home to a community of artists, and was reportedly crowded with art supplies and not up to fire code. A criminal investigation into the blaze began Sunday. During the investigation, neighbors told firefighters that the warehouse owners had recently installed a refrigerator, suggesting that the fire might have begun in the building's electrical system the New York Times reported.
