Sheldon Silver Resigns

New York Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver submitted his official letter of resignation on Friday evening, and will be out of the post effective 11: 59 p.m. on Monday. Silver agreed to resign after he was arrested on charges of corruption. He's being accused of raking in millions of dollars in kickbacks while assisting his friends in Albany. Meanwhile, another state lawmaker is under investigation: the feds are looking into Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos' finances.
