Sharapova Out at U.S. Open

Top-seeded Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark eliminated Russian Maria Sharapova from the U.S. Open on Monday, defeating her 6-3 6-4. The 23-year-old Sharapova, who last won the U.S. Open in 2006 and has won three Grand Slam singles titles total, was seeded all the way down at 14. The 20-year-old Wozniacki was runner-up in last year’s tournament to Kim Clijsters.
