Authorities are investigating a homicide after police found a suitcase containing body parts in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood Wednesday. Officers discovered the contents after responding to a report of a suspicious package on a sidewalk, according to police spokeswoman Officer Grace Gatpandan. The gender or race of the victim were not immediately clear, Gatpandan said. Police said they found more body parts after a search of the nearby area, but did not disclose what they were or where they were found. “Investigators are still searching to determine if there are any other body parts in the area,” Gatpandan said. “This was an extremely gruesome crime scene.” Homicide detectives are looking into nearby surveillance footage to see who left the suticase and have a rough suspect description, Gatpandan added.
