Senate Turns Down the Volume

Those of you despairing of today’s partisan bickering, take heart: The Senate unanimously agreed late Wednesday that loud TV commercials are very annoying. The Commercial Advertisement Loudness Mitigation Act, or CALM, will require television stations and cable companies to keep commercials and shows at the same volume. Similar legislation has already passed the House. Senator Charles Schumer, (D-NY), a co-sponsor of the bill, said, "TV viewers should be able to watch their favorite programs without fear of losing their hearing when the show goes to a commercial."
