Scotland Yard Embroiled in ‘World’ Scandal

The plot thickens: Scotland Yard is now under fire for being an accomplice in the News of the World hacking scandal, with the news that a trove of evidence went unnoticed by the Metropolitan Police Service from August 2006 to the fall of 2010. Throughout those four years, Scotland Yard assured Parliament they had no evidence of any hacking carried out by the tabloid. In the wake of the scandal, police officials have come forward about mishandling the case but insist they didn’t know about the trove of documents. Yet members in Parliament say they've been troubled by the “revolving door” and cozy relations between Scotland Yard and News International.
