S&P 500 Closes at All-Time High

It was a good "morning after" for Wall Street. On the first day of trading after Congress settled its stalemate with a last-minute debt deal, the Standard & Poor's 500 Index launched to a record high, rising 11 points to 1,733. The Nasdaq also rose to a 13-year high, while the Dow Jones dropped slightly due to poor earnings from Goldman Sachs, IBM, and other large U.S. companies.
