S. Korea Threatens ‘Enormous Retaliation’

South Korea threatened an “enormous retaliation” if North Korea follows up its artillery attack on Yeonpyeong island—the first attack on South Korean land since the 1953 war. The attack killed two soldiers and injured 20 people. South Korea was conducting military exercises in the vicinity of the disputed South Korean island before the attack. Praveen Swami at The Telegraph says not to expect World War III, but, “The real fear now is that protracted North Korean aggression will push South Korea and Japan to reconsider their long-held taboo on possessing nuclear weapons.”
