S. Korea Issues Warning to North

While the U.S. collaborated in naval exercises, South Korea’s President Lee Myung-bak stepped up his rhetoric against the North, vowing consequences for any further attacks and proclaiming outrage at the “ruthlessness of the North Korean regime, which is even indifferent to the lives of children.” Lee has been criticized for his response to the North’s deadly attack last week, and he also took some responsibility “for failing to protect my people’s lives and property.” The North, meanwhile, threatened “yet another grave military provocation” minutes after Lee’s speech.
