Russia Court Charges 2 in Nemtsov Murder

Two men were charged in connection to the murder of Russian opposition leader Boris Nemtsov, Russian authorities said Sunday. The liberal critic of President Vladimir Putin was shot dead on a bridge outside the Kremlin last month. Police charged the two Chechen men, Zaur Dadayev and Anzor Gubashev, with carrying out the murder while three other suspects remain in custody. A sixth suspect reportedly blew himself up during a standoff with police in the Chechen capital of Grozny. Dadayev, a former policeman from the mostly Muslim region of Chechnya, admitted his involvement in the shooting. Dadayev reportedly was angered by Nemtsov’s defense of the cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad in the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo.
