The RNC’s second day begins at 5:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday, and the theme: “Make America Work Again,” emphasizing trade, jobs, immigration, and economic policy.
After a roll call from the states’ delegations, day two will start with the convention officially nominating Donald Trump as the Republican nominee for president. After day one’s chaotic roll call, due to vociferous procedural demands from #NeverTrump Republicans, today’s procedure will be tense viewing.
The convention will then shift to about two dozen speeches from politicians, business people, and several more members of Donald Trump’s family. His kin’s speeches will be especially interesting considering Melania Trump’s first-night speech’s direct plagiarism from a 2008 Michelle Obama speech.
Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-WI), Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), and co-chair of the RNC Sharon Day are all due to make appearances. Also planned: Sens. Ron Johnson (R-WI) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), as well as former Attorney General Michael Mukasey, Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson, and Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge.
Rounding out the speakers will be a variety of celebrities and entrepreneurs, including Ultimate Fighting Championship president Dana White, NRA lobbyist Chris Cox, LPGA golfer Natalie Gulbis, Trump Winery general manager Kerry Woolard, actress Kimberlin Brown, and Standard Waterproofing Company founder Andy Wist
All major cable news networks will be covering the event. If you don’t have cable, Twitter and CBS News are partnering to live-stream CBSN's coverage of the event on Twitter.
