Rex Tillerson Tells North Korea: ‘We Are Not Your Enemy’

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said Tuesday that he would welcome a dialogue with North Korea and emphasized to the reclusive country that the U.S. is “not your enemy.” Tillerson seeks to have North Korea relinquish its nuclear arsenal in exchange for certain security assurances from the U.S. “We do not seek a regime change, we do not seek the collapse of the regime, we do not seek an accelerated reunification of the peninsula,” Tillerson said. “We do not seek an excuse to send our military north of the 38th parallel.” Separately, the U.S. Air Force on Wednesday successfully test-launched an intercontinental ballistic missile from the California coast.
