Reporters Barred From Events for Both Georgia Special-Election Candidates
Both candidates in the race to represent Georgia’s 6th Congressional District reportedly barred news outlets from campaign events on Monday, the night before a special election runoff. Staffers for Republican candidate Karen Handel reportedly blocked the left-leaning outlet ThinkProgress from an evening event, according to reporters from that publication. Meanwhile, staffers for Democratic candidate Jon Ossoff reportedly blocked the right-leaning outlet Free Beacon from attending an event that same evening, Free Beacon reporters announced on Twitter. The hotly contested election will take place Tuesday to fill the seat left by Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price.
