Report: U.S. to Consider Refugees’ ‘Ability to Assimilate’

The Trump administration will reportedly consider refugees’ ability to assimilate before admitting them into the United States. According to The Wall Street Journal, a report to Congress that has yet to be made public says the Trump administration is considering “certain criteria that enhance a refugee’s likelihood of successful assimilation and contribution in the United States.” The administration will reportedly admit no more than 45,000 refugees into the country next year, the lowest number since 1980.
