Report: U.S. Drone Crashes in Pakistan

What is thought to be a U.S. drone has crashed in Pakistan’s lawless tribal area Sunday, intelligence officials said. According to one local resident, tribesmen were congratulating themselves for shooting down the drone around 6 p.m. in North Waziristan, but the Pakistani army rejected a similar claim in 2008 when a drone crashed nearby due to technical problems. In the three weeks since the attack in Afghanistan that killed seven CIA officials, suspected drones have carried out 12 missile strikes in South and North Waziristan. Militants are retaliating by killing people they suspect to be aiding the strikes.
