Report: Trump-Friendly AMI Acquires In Touch, Life & Style, Closer

American Media Inc., the parent company of the National Enquirer that’s captained by Trump ally David Pecker, has acquired gossip mags In Touch, Life & Style, and Closer from the German publisher Bauer, according to sources cited by Page Six on Friday. AMI also publishes Star!, OK, and Radar Online, and now owns all celebrity-focused magazines except People, which is owned by the Meredith Corp. In recent years, AMI’s top brass has grown notorious for rejecting allegations of “lewd and intimidating workplace misconduct,” and for “weaponizing the supermarket tabloid against Donald Trump’s adversaries,” as detailed in a previous Daily Beast article about the company. According to Page Six, the staff of the magazines will be informed Friday at an all-hands meeting.
