Report: Syrian Planes Taking Off from Bombed Base

Syrian government planes are taking off from the air base that the U.S. bombed less than 24 hours ago, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The fighters reportedly flew missions in the Homs area of Syria. U.S. tomahawk missiles that were fired from nearby destroyers were believed to have created impact craters along the runway, hampering the Syrian military’s ability to use that base for combat purposes. The deployment was authorized Thursday by President Donald Trump following Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s sarin gas attack on civilians earlier this week.
