Here’s something you don’t see every day. At just 23 years of age, Rifca Stanescu of Investi, Romania, is the world’s youngest grandmother, according to The Sun. Rifca married jewelry salesman Ionel Stanescu when she was 11 and he was 13, and gave birth to her first child, Maria, when she was only 12. Rifca’s other child, Nicolae, was born just a year later. Although Rifca tried to persuade her daughter to stay in school, Maria left to wed when she was just 10, and had her baby six months later, at age 11. “I am happy to be a grandmother but wished more for Maria,” said Rifca, cuddling her 2-year-old grandson, Ion.
