Report: Feds Wiretapped Trump Lawyer Michael Cohen’s Phones

Federal investigators wiretapped the phone lines of President Donald Trump’s longtime attorney, Michael Cohen, NBC News reported. The wiretap was in place in the weeks leading up to the FBI raids on Cohen’s office, hotel, and residence last month—but it’s unclear when the tap was first authorized, according to the network. A source told NBC News that “at least one phone call between a phone line associated with Cohen and the White House was intercepted.” Cohen is currently under investigation for a $130,000 payment he made to porn star Stormy Daniels, who claims she had an affair with the president. The newest addition to Trump's legal team, Rudy Giuliani, told The Daily Beast that he does not believe that Michael Cohen was wiretapped. “Us lawyers have talked about it, we don’t believe it’s true,” Giuliani said. “We think it’s going to turn out to be untrue because it would be totally illegal. You can’t wiretap a lawyer, you certainly can’t wiretap his client who’s not involved in the investigation.”
