Report: DOJ Probing Uber Data Breach

The Department of Justice has launched a criminal investigation into a 2014 data breach at Uber, looking at whether or not ride service competitor Lyft had anything to do with the incident, Reuters reported on Friday. Uber revealed earlier this year that the personal information of up to 50,000 of its drivers had been improperly downloaded, and an ensuing company investigation claimed that an Internet address that may be connected to Lyft's technology chief was used in the breach. A Justice Department spokesperson told Reuters he could not confirm or deny that an investigation is taking place.
