Report: China Behind Google Attack

A report by VeriSign's iDefense security lab has fingered the Chinese government as the culprits behind the recent cyberattack against Google and more than 30 other companies. Tracing the source IPs and collaborating with sources in the defense and intelligence communities led iDefense to conclude that the attack was perpetrated by "agents of the Chinese state or proxies thereof," possibly using vulnerabilities in Adobe PDF software. Adobe and security firm McAfee dispute that claim, saying that their evidence points toward Internet Explorer as the exploited software.
