One of the longest-serving members of the House, Rep. Bill Young of Flordia, died on Friday night at the age of 82. Young's family said the death was caused by complications from a chronic injury. The Associated Press reports that Young had spent almost two weeks at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center because of back problems related to a plane crash in 1970, the year before he assumed office. Young represented Florida's 13th Congressional District and had announced that he was not seeking another term. House Speaker John Boehner called Young a "dear friend and colleague" in a statement.
