Will the Red Bull Art of Can exhibit do for the power-boosting beverage what Andy Warhol did for Campbell’s soup? The exhibit, which asked artists to use cans of the energy drink to construct a masterpiece, is on view at Washington D.C.’s Union Station. After evaluating 300 entries on their creative concept, conceptual execution, and construction, 56 were chosen to be displayed in the nation’s capital through October 19. Kathryn Beale of Granger, Texas, took home first place for the political piece she sculpted entitled Common Ground, which features a donkey and an elephant dressed in patriotic colors. For earning top honors, Beale won a trip to the Art Basel modern art exhibition in Switzerland.
