Rebekah Brooks: I Paid Officials

The former head of Rupert Murdoch's U.K. newspapers said in court Thursday that she paid public officials "a half dozen times" for information. Rebekah Brooks said she did it for the public good. "My view at the time was that there had to be an overwhelming public interest to justify payments in the very narrow circumstances of a public official being paid for information directly in line with their jobs," she said. Brooks has denied charges of bribing officials and a conspiracy to hack phones.
