Rapper 21 Savage Says He Was ‘Definitely Targeted’ by ICE

Rapper 21 Savage said he believes he was “definitely targeted” by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, in a Good Morning America interview set to air Friday morning. “I was just driving. And I just seen guns and blue lights. And, then, I was in the back of a car. And I was gone,” he said of his Feb. 3 arrest. “It was definitely targeted.” He claimed ICE officers didn’t say anything to him while he was under arrest, other than, “We got Savage,” and that one helicopter was present when he was apprehended. Immigration officials said the rapper, whose real name is She’yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, is a British citizen who overstayed a visa from years ago. According to the rapper’s attorneys, the government knew of his immigration status and he had a pending visa application. He was recently released on bond and granted an expedited hearing.
