This could make things awkward in signing another lease. Former White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel’s renter is considering challenging his landlord for Chicago mayor. Meet Rob Halpin, a businessman and cigar aficionado, who refused to move when Emanuel announced his return to the Windy City; Halpin had just re-signed his lease for another year, days before Emanuel’s return. Halpin said his candidacy has “nothing to do with Rahm Emanuel,” and said several businessmen asked him if he’d be interested in running. Halpin will need to get 12,500 signatures by Nov. 22 to be eligible to run. Meanwhile, Emanuel has other problems on his mind: He was nearly egged on his “listening tour” of Chicago.
