Qatar Works to Rescue 4 Syrian Hostages

After the successful release of an American journalist held for two years in Syria, Qatari diplomats are apparently seeking to use their influence to wrangle the release of four more American hostages. Peter Theo Curtis was held by al-Nusra Front and was let free this weekend, after the brutal beheading of journalist James Foley. “Four other Americans who have gone missing in Syria have now been located, and Qatar is working to free them,” a Gulf source told Reuters. It’s not clear who these hostages are being held by, but Qatar backs some rebel groups in Syria.
