Putin Says He’s Invited Trump to Visit Him in Moscow

It’s hard to make plans, especially when you have a busy schedule. Just two days after it was reported that President Donald Trump postponed his invite for Vladimir Putin to visit him in Washington, the Russian president has suggested the two now meet in Moscow. Speaking to reporters at a summit of BRICS countries—Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, where the summit was held—Putin said he and Trump were ready for further talks, but that conditions needed to be right for a meeting to take place. Putin and Trump met in Helsinki last week, after which the U.S. president came under severe criticism back home for failing to criticize Putin for Russia’s interference in the 2016 presidential election. Putin said phone calls between Moscow and Washington were insufficient and that both sides needed to meet to talk about issues, such as the Iran nuclear deal and global conflicts, to take their new relationship forward.
