Prom Rejection May Have Sparked Stabbing

Police are investigating whether a 16-year-old boy stabbed a female classmate to death outside their Connecticut high school because she rejected his invitation to the prom. The victim has been identified as 16-year-old Maren Sanchez, a junior at Jonathan Law High School in Milford, about an hour away from New York City. Police who took the teenage stabbing suspect into custody would not release his name because he is underage but said they were investigating reports that he attacked Sanchez Friday after she said she didn’t want to be his date for the junior prom. The event was scheduled for Friday night but has now been postponed.
