Private Investigator Charged for Tracking Richard Simmons
A private investigator has been charged for planting a tracker on the vehicle of fitness guru and TV personality Richard Simmons’ caretaker in order to “monitor” Simmons’ movements, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Scott Brian Mathews is being charged with a “misdemeanor crime” for planting the device, which Simmons claims was being used to “determine whether [he] had visited hospitals in connection with a purported gender transition.” He also claims that Mathews was tracking him for over a year and he was hired by tabloid In Touch Weekly. Simmons called gender change rumors, published by the likes of The National Enquirer and Radar Online, “false and fabricated” in a June lawsuit. If Mathews is convicted, he will lose his private investigator license.
