A prison-transport officer who is suspected of assaulting more than 100 female inmates while on duty was detained in Arkansas on Tuesday. FBI Special Agent Kyle Roberts testified that Eric Scott Kindley was transporting a 27-year-old woman to a prison in Arizona last year when he assaulted her during a bathroom break on an abandoned road and threatened her with a gun. Roberts said he found evidence that Kindley assaulted at least 13 other women. Two of Kindley’s former employees were also charged with sexually assaulting female inmates while working for him. The former employees told the FBI that “it was understood among the transport officers that they could do as they wanted to the females during transport, so long as the authorities do not find out.” Kindley, who had worked as a transport officer since 2002, was arrested one day after he signed up to be an Uber driver. Authorities found that he’d used his smartphone to search for instances of Uber drivers having sex with passengers, Roberts testified.
