Pope’s Climate Change Encyclical Leaked

A leaked draft of Pope Francis’s highly anticipated encyclical on climate change shows the pontiff is reaffirming his stance that human activity and fossil fuels are to blame and will urge a global response to take action. According to Italian newspaper L’Espresso, a 192-page version of the encyclical, or papal teaching letters to the Roman Catholic Church, cites scientific evidence about the role of humans in global warming, calls on people to move away from a consumerist lifestyle, and pushes for governments to work together on climate solutions such as eliminating carbon credits. The Vatican emphasized the document was not in its final version and will remain under embargo until Thursday.
