A new Gallup poll suggests that former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney is set to lead the GOP race for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination. The survey, taken from June 8 to June 11, shows Romney with 24 percent of Republicans' support, an increase since the end of May. Romney leads the pack ahead of Sarah Palin at 16 percent, Herman Cain at 9 percent, and Ron Paul at 7 percent. With evidence showing that he is a frontrunner, other GOP candidates will likely scrutinize him during tonight's debate in New Hampshire. The poll found contenders Tim Pawlenty and Rick Santorum tied at six percent, and Michele Bachman and Newt Gingrich at five percent. Bringing up the rear were Jon Huntsman and Rick Perry.
