Poll: Perry Takes Lead Nationwide

Not only are new numbers showing Texas Gov. Rick Perry dominating in Iowa, but Perry is also surging nationwide. A new survey of Republican voters across the country shows Perry with a staggering 13-point lead over Mitt Romney, 33 percent to 20 percent. Michele Bachmann dropped back to 16 percent, rounding out the top tier. The poll found that Perry’s surge has come from the strong support of conservative voters—the more conservative, the more likely they are to support Perry. Public Policy Polling said the common thread in its polls from this week is bad news for Bachmann. “Conservative voters have been looking for a candidate that they can rally around and Perry's filling that role,” it wrote.
