Poland Won’t Extradite Roman Polanski

A Polish court on Friday denied a U.S. request to extradite film director Roman Polanski to face punishment for decades-old sex charges in California. Polanski fled America in 1978, shortly before he was to be sentenced after admitting he had unlawful sex with a 13-year-old girl. Although the Oscar-winner wasn’t present in Polish court, Judge Dariusz Mazur called the U.S. request “inadmissible,” further extending the 82-year-old’s fugitive status. Swiss authorities were the last official body to reject a U.S. extradition request back in 2010.
