Plane Crashes in Tehran

According to official news agencies in Iran, a passenger plane crashed in Tehran on Sunday, killing a reported 38 people on board. There are now reports that there are survivors of the crash, whereas before, reports from Iran indicated that all on board had perished. The survivors have been transported to the hospital. The Antonov-140 propeller plane crashed just after takeoff at the international airport due to engine failure. The crash also left people injured on the ground. There were 40 passengers and a crew of eight. Iran has had a recent spate of plane crashes, which has been blamed on aging aircraft (some are left over from before the 1979 revolution) and poor maintenance.
