Philly Paper Owner’s Jet Never Took Off

The private plane of Philadelphia Inquirer co-owner Lewis Katz crashed before it even lifted off the ground, black-box data revealed. The accident killed all six aboard on Saturday night in Bedford, Massachusetts. According to the National Transportation Safety Board, the aircraft reached takeoff speed, but didn’t get into the air before crashing into a ravine and exploding in flames. The cause of the accident has not been determined, but audio on the cockpit voice recorder picked up the pilot and co-pilot discussing a control problem.
