Peter Max Launches iPhone Applications

Iconic ‘60s artist Peter Max is ending the decade by becoming part of the technological revolution, releasing two iPhone applications allowing users to buy his works digitally. Max’s four-decade career has brought his work to alarm clocks, stamps, pianos, and even a Continental Airlines jet. But the 72-year-old Max is stepping into the new realm of smartphones, becoming one of the first artists to turn profit from small-screen digital versions of his psychedelic images. The two applications—“The Peter Max Birthdays” and “The Peter Max eCard” gallery—allow iPhone users to access Max’s works for $1.99 each. What better way to acknowledge a birthday, holidays, and other special occasions than with a piece of virtual 60s artistic memorabilia?
