Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell

Pentagon to Gays: Don’t Come Out Yet

The Pentagon may be abiding a court order to stop enforcing Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, but gay servicemen and women shouldn’t come out of the closet just yet: "We note for service members that altering their personal conduct in this legally uncertain environment may have adverse consequences for themselves and others should the court's decision be reversed," Undersecretary of Defense Clifford Stanley said in a memo on Friday. A California District Court judge ordered an injunction of the enforcement of the policy on Tuesday. The Obama administration has asked the judge to stay her ruling while it appeals her decision.
