The woman at the heart of one of the biggest and most bizarre news stories of the 1970s took home a top prize at the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club dog show. Patty Hearst’s shih tzu, Rocket, won the toy dog category on Monday night. The William Randolph Hearst heiress was kidnapped in 1974 by the Symbionese Liberation Army. Subsequently, she was spotted robbing a California bank while carrying a machine gun. The image became one of the most iconic of the 1970s. After nearly two years in prison, then-President Jimmy Carter commuted her sentence, and Bill Clinton ultimately pardoned her. Rocket, who is co-owed by two others, will compete for best in show on Tuesday.
