Parkland Shooting Victim Files First Lawsuit Over Massacre

Anthony Borges, a Parkland high school student shot five times during Nikolas Cruz’s fatal shooting spree in February, has filed the first lawsuit in connection with the massacre. In a lawsuit filed Tuesday, Borges’ parents single out seven defendants for unspecified damages. In addition to 19-year-old Cruz, the suit also names the estate of Cruz’s late mother, Lynda, as well as James and Kimberly Snead, the Parkland couple who took Cruz in for several months prior to the shooting. Three mental health centers believed to have treated Cruz are also accused of negligence in the lawsuit, which calls for a jury trial.
