Pakistani Minority Minister Shahbaz Bhatti Assassinated
Pakistani Minority Minister Shahbaz Bhatti was assassinated on his way to work in Islamabad Wednesday. Bhatti, a Christian, was the Pakistani cabinet's only non-Muslim member and he had been previously targeted with death threats for wanting to reform the country’s blasphemy laws, which carry a death sentence for anyone who insults Islam. He was attacked in his car by three or four gunmen. A Taliban spokesman claimed the group was responsible for the attack.
