Pakistan Upholds Blasphemy Death Penalty

Asia Bibi, the Christian woman found guilty of blasphemy in 2010, has had her appeal against a death sentence rejected by the Pakistan High Court. She was found guilty of making offensive comments about the Prophet Muhammed during an argument with a Muslim woman. After she was sentenced, two prominent politicians called for reforms to blasphemy laws, and were subsequently murdered. Bibi denied she had insulted the Prophet Muhammad, and said the argument was about a pot of water.
