From dreamboat to bleeding heart: British heartthrob Orlando Bloom was named goodwill ambassador for UNICEF on Monday in honor of his work with children around the world. Bloom began working with children on behalf of UNICEF in Russia, Sarajevo, and Nepal in 2007. Providing support to needy children will be one of the emphases of his new role. The Pirates of the Caribbean and Lord of the Rings star is also scheduled to begin working on a movie about clean water supplies. Bloom is one of a long list of stars that has been appointed UNICEF ambassador, including David Beckham, Shakira, Vanessa Redgrave, and Audrey Hepburn.
