Oprah Winfrey: Donald Trump Seems ‘Humbled’ by Election

Oprah Winfrey, who endorsed Hillary Clinton in June of this year but did not speak out for her as strongly as she did for Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012, offered some surprisingly hopeful comments about President-elect Donald Trump in a post-election interview this week. Encouraged by Trump's White House meeting with President Obama, Winfrey told the Associated Press she believes "hope is still alive" after Clinton's loss. "I could sense, maybe I'm wrong, but I could sense from Donald Trump's body language even when he came out for the acceptance speech, that brotha has been humbled by this whole thing," she added. "I think it's a humbling process that now you literally have the weight of the world on your shoulders."

In a separate interview with Entertainment Tonight, Winfrey said, "To hear President-elect Trump say that he had respect for President Obama, it felt that he had reached a moment where he was actually humbled by that experience," adding, "I think everybody can take a deep breath now."
