Ohio Lawmakers OK Anti-Union Bill

In case you're nostalgic for the days of Wisconsin's protests, there's always Ohio: The Ohio legislature approved an anti-union bill Wednesday, with GOP Gov. John Kasich expected to sign it into law by the end of the week. The bill will limit the collective-bargaining rights of the state's 350,000 public employees, and will eliminate pay increases and replace them with merit- and performance-based pay. Kasich has said the bill would help put money toward closing the state's $8 billion budget hole. State Democrats opposed the bill, but have not offered any real alternatives. While there are similarities to Wisconsin, far fewer people have turned out to protest Ohio's bill.
