Ohio Kidnapping Survivors to Write Book

Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus will collaborate with two Pulitzer Prize-winning reporters to write a book about their ordeal, they said Monday. Berry and DeJesus were held captive, along with Michelle Knight, for a decade each by Ariel Castro, who killed himself in prison in August. “Many have told, and continue to tell, this story in ways that are both inaccurate and beyond the control of these young women,” said James Wooley, an attorney for Berry and DeJesus. They will be teaming up with Washington Post reporters Mary Jordan, a Cleveland native, and Kevin Sullivan. While no meetings with publishers have been scheduled yet, the book is likely to sell fast, especially in the wake of Jaycee Lee Dugard’s bestselling memoir, A Stolen Life.
